Flavours of Heritage: #BlackHistoryMonth Celebration
Rainbow Fostering continues celebrating Black History Month and we would love you to join us on our most delicious event yet!
Flavours of Heritage is a lively celebration centered around food, music, and storytelling, focusing on Black culture. The event will offer foster parents and staff the opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate Black history through cuisine, music, and shared experiences.
Where?
The event will take place at all of our offices on Friday 25th October at 12:00.
Please confirm your attendance by EOB 18th October via email to foster@rainbowfostering.co.uk.
The in-person event is open to all foster carers and staff only.
How to Participate
Put on your cooking apron and your chef’s hat and have that excuse to show your cooking skills by preparing a traditional dish from parts of the Caribbean/African diaspora (e.g., Jollof rice, gumbo, jerk chicken, plantains)
You can cook at home and bring your dishes to share at your closest Rainbow Fostering Office.
If you are not eligible to attend the event, please get involved by sending us some images of what you prepared, and we will make sure we post your participation on Social Media!
Create recipe cards for each dish, explaining the cultural significance and origins of the dish to educate and inspire conversation.
Finally, we would love to hear from anyone that wishes to share why the dish they are cooking is personally meaningful to them. Sharing stories about their cultural experiences, family traditions, or inspirational figures from Black history.
